Our Shelties are important members of the staff at Wild About Birds! They are expected to perform their customer service duties with enthusiasm as demonstrated by doggy smiles, wiggly bodies, and wagging tails. If their performance exceeds your expectations you can reward them with doggy treats!!!
We adopted Patty and Zoey from Precious Secrets Sheltie Rescue. Patty had been turned over at age 9 to the Rescue by her original owner who moved and was unable to take her. Zoey, on the other hand, was a stray picked up by the dog warden and eventually transferred to Precious Secrets; we guessed her age at the time to be about 5 years. Patty was an immediate fit in our home life and the shop � she was very sweet, easy going and quiet. Zoey, however, came to us with major issues. It was clear from day one that she had never been inside. She was afraid of everything in the house � lights, ceiling fans, TV, kitchen noises, etc. It took us 10 weeks to get through to her but it was worth every minute as she is now a loving and well adjusted dog.
Sadly, in June of 2009 heaven received a new angel - at age 16 we lost our dear Patty suddenly to liver disease. The loss we feel is eased by memories of her sweet Sheltie smile and wagging tail every time she greeted us or our customers. We are grateful for all the kind words of sympathy we�ve received from our wonderful customers and are especially thankful for the donations many of you have made to Precious Secrets Sheltie Rescue in memory of our beloved Patty.
After the loss of Patty, Zoey, now 11, seemed to really miss her �sister� so we have adopted another wonderful Sheltie from Precious Secrets. Her name is Jenny and she is about 5 years old. She�s already �working� her shift at the shop so come in and say hi but no treats for her and you�ll know why when you see her!!!

We lost our dear Zoey in late 2010 but were blessed shortly thereafter by the arrival of another dear Sheltie in need of a forever home. Her name is Lucy, she is about six years old and she is the �sheltiest� Sheltie we have ever had! She barks and runs in circles, it seems just to entertain herself, and she herds whatever she feels needs herding� me, Ken, her �sister� Jenny or the chairs around the kitchen table. She is a real doll and we thank Precious Secrets Sheltie Rescue for helping so many homeless dogs find loving families! Without them we would not have found our four loves � Patty, Zoey, Jenny, and Lucy!
